Khurram Amir Qureshi

Khurram Amir Qureshi is a solicitor of England and Wales, a published legal author and the founder and principal solicitor of KQ Solicitors in Luton. His career in the law spans two countries and more than two decades: as a writer of legal textbooks, a university lecturer, a business director and, since 2015, the leader of his own practice. Throughout, one conviction has remained constant: that the law should serve people, not intimidate them.

Beginnings in Pakistan: law, writing and education

Khurram's relationship with the law began not in a courtroom but in a classroom. In Pakistan, where he undertook his early legal studies, he became involved in legal education at a young stage of his career, preparing study materials, teaching and writing for students working towards their law degrees.

It was demanding, formative work. To teach law is to be forced to understand it properly: to take a difficult principle, strip away the jargon and rebuild it in language a student can genuinely grasp. That discipline, clarity before cleverness, became the foundation of Khurram's professional character, and it has shaped every stage of his career since.

The legal author

Khurram's early commitment to legal education produced a substantial body of published work. He is the author of six legal books, written for students of Pakistani LL.B degree programmes:

The range of these subjects, from constitutional and international law to jurisprudence and legal drafting, reflects an unusually broad legal education. Long before he advised his first client in England, Khurram had spent years studying how legal systems are constructed, how they differ across jurisdictions and how they can be explained to those encountering them for the first time. His books remain in circulation among law students and booksellers in Pakistan today.

Qualification in England

Khurram continued his academic development in the United Kingdom at the University of Bedfordshire, preparing himself for practice within the English legal system. The transition required him to master a new jurisdiction while drawing on the comparative perspective his earlier studies had given him.

On 2 March 2009, he was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of England and Wales. Admission as a solicitor marked the formal beginning of his English legal career, and he remains on the Roll today, with more than fifteen years of post-qualification experience.

Early career and Lords & Peers Solicitors

In the years following his admission, Khurram built his experience not only in legal practice but in the management and development of legal businesses. Between August 2011 and October 2013, he served as a director of Lords & Peers Solicitors Ltd. The period taught him how a law firm operates from the inside: how standards are maintained, how clients are cared for and how a practice earns its reputation.

That experience would prove essential to the next, defining chapter of his career.

The founding of KQ Solicitors

In November 2015, Khurram established KQ Solicitors in Luton, Bedfordshire, building the firm around a simple ambition: a legal practice where professional advice would be accessible, straightforward and focused on the individual needs of each client.

He understood what was at stake for the people who would walk through the door. An immigration decision can determine whether a family remains together. An application for settlement or citizenship can shape the course of a person's life. A family dispute can affect children, relationships and financial security. For many people, seeking legal help in such circumstances is intimidating, and Khurram wanted to build a firm where it would not be.

Under his leadership as principal solicitor, KQ Solicitors has developed a particular focus on immigration, nationality and family law. As an immigration solicitor, he advises on spouse and partner visas, visa extensions, indefinite leave to remain, British citizenship, and immigration refusals and appeals. His family law practice assists clients through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. He also acts as a Commissioner for Oaths and undertakes advocacy and hearing representation where appropriate.

The firm advises clients locally in Luton and across the United Kingdom, as well as people applying to enter or remain in the UK from overseas. Its character has remained what Khurram intended from the beginning: professional in its standards, personal in its approach.

The teacher

Alongside his practice, Khurram has continued to teach. He has worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire, and more recently has been involved with BARBRI, teaching students preparing to enter the legal profession in England and Wales.

For Khurram, practice and education are not separate callings. Explaining complex legislation to students requires the same qualities that clients value most: patience, precision and the ability to make the unfamiliar understandable. A client facing an immigration refusal or a family breakdown is often encountering the legal system for the first time, at the worst possible moment. The teacher's instinct, to explain before advising and to ensure understanding before decision, runs through every consultation he gives.

The Free Friday Clinic

Khurram's belief that everyone deserves to understand their legal position, regardless of their financial circumstances, found its most practical expression in the firm's Free Friday Legal Advice Clinic.

Every Friday afternoon, KQ Solicitors provides free initial immigration and family law guidance at The Dallow Centre in Luton. The clinic is funded entirely by the firm and open to any member of the public, without an appointment.
